Walking West along the cliff top, Hastings Country Park is only a few minutes away. If you are energetic you can walk all the way to Hastings. The views are great. A short walk can incorporate a visit to St Andrew's Church or the Coastguards Cafe. The church tower is the highest point for many miles around. It is open to the public at certain times during the summer and it is well worth climbing the 110 steps to the top.
Walking East through the village there is access to a walk across the clifftop to Pett Level. It is two miles and takes about 40 minutes to walk.
Alternatively you can drive to Pett Level where there is free parking. This is the nearest access to the beach. Although we are on the clifftop, the beach immediately below (shown) can only be reached by walking back from Pett Level at low tide.
At high tide Pett Level beach is good for swimming but for a sandy beach it is best to drive to Camber Sands on the far side of Rye.

There are lots of lovely country walks through woods and across fields around the nearby villages.
